German drop tanks used on P-47's

Had to post this as reference.   Ninth AF used german drops on P-47's as fuel tanks and fire bombs.  Great example of US adapting to field conditions.  These picture came from Hyperscale.

More on Michigan RF-84

Few more pictures of RF-84 that belong to the Michigan ANG.   Just trying to show a little history of the unit I once belonged too.

RF-84 Michigan National Guard by Daniel Zamarbide

I remember then these aircraft showed up a Selfridge AFB.  The unit had been transfered from Metro Airport. Shortly after this the base was turned over to the National Guard that was about 1971.    Knowing some on the people the crewed the aircraft they said it was a pig.   Specially during take off on a hot day.  It was only 6 months later the ramp was full of  RF-101s.   Later F-100D as the RF-84 where send to the boneyard.
