C-119 Gunships

These picture are not seen very often. As most of the time the aircraft was classified.  The AP would not greet you kindly if you snapped there picture.  Lucky for us USAF ground crew found a way.

DaNang 1970

Here's a rare one. AC-119G Shadow gunship being ferried to Vietnam. Taken by my dad Sam R. Jones from his C-124C on their way back from Da Nang in January 1969.

I believe aircraft modeler have completely missed the importance of the C-124.  During it lifespan in the USAF this aircraft hauled so cargo to all parts of the world.  Yes is was slow, but it got its cargo where it needed to be.

One of my ship mates worked on this aircraft in Da Nang during the Vietnam. His name was David Taite.  Asked what they did as the mission.  David all we did was take pictures. That's all I guess the missions where still classified even ten years later.
