German Drop tanks on P47's

It seems that this topic is back on Hyperscale.  9Th air force waas running short on napalm tanks to use against the German.  Some bring crew chief figure out how adapt german drop tank to work on the racks. So the 9th had a never ending supply of napalm tanks..

Mig 17 wing. Updated 19 Mar 2020

It seems that the new Mig-17 by airfix has a bum wing.  The shape isn't quite right. I happened to find this out of a Soviet Maintenance manual.   All photo credit goe to Stimpy from the 72nd scale model forum

This aircraft to me is a kool looking fighter aircraft.  The First time I was the aircraft in person was at Red Flag 1983.   The thing I can recall was the maintenance crews  complain about engine  problems. It seems like they where changing engines daily.  Sadly they are all gone like the phantom.

Best fighter during Vietnam

I knew this but did didn't know the ratio to loss rate.  Too bad the F-8 was just plain worn out before the Vietnam war.

Thank to  Robin Olds was sent to Vietnam for the Air Force. Using the strengths of the F-4, he changed their tactics and made a huge turn around in air to air combat. The Air Force also adopted gun pods on the center pylon and outer pylons, making them versatile. Col. Old's tactics and te-training of Air Force pilots, was a game changer.
